The easy-to-build RoadRunner balances compact proportions with superb performance and, assuming there’s sufficient room, you can use it with any of the motors we stock.

 

The gearbox can be installed so the motor sits either horizontally above the frames, or vertically-mounted in the firebox to prevent it being visible inside the cab or below the boiler.

 

Choose a gear ratio to suit your model – 34:1 for express passenger, 45:1 for mixed-traffic locos or 60:1 for freight and shunting. With a quality motor this will give you fine control throughout the speed range, from a slow steady crawl to maximum.
